How to apply

University Updates

We have been made aware that some of our members are reporting practices that are not in agreement with the VC approved flexible approach on working practices during lockdown.
For your information we have cut and pasted the information below from the University Updated 6 January 2021 to assist you:

“As we adjust to this new lockdown, please be assured that we understand you have other priorities to accommodate, such as caring for vulnerable relatives, childcare or home-schooling your children.

We are aware that the working day may be disrupted, and we are simply asking you to do your best, as you always do, and continue to support each other.

We understand that for those of you with caring responsibilities, this will need to take priority, and we are looking at supporting a flexible approach to the delivery of work undertaken at home and on campus.

Please therefore discuss your situation with your line manager in order that the University can support both you and ongoing operations of the University as flexibly as possible. Further information on how the University supports those with caring responsibilities is available from HR”.

Membership Details

It is important that your membership details are up to date. please contact the branch if you have moved address, changed your name, email address or telephone number. Your correct address is particularly important as some information can only be sent to you by post.

If you want to change or check what is on the system please contact m.sawdon@tees.ac.uk or unison@tees.ac.uk

Recruit a Colleague Scheme

If you know any of your colleagues who are not members of UNISON Teesside University Branch, please discuss with them about joining us. As you know we are a very active branch working hard to support our members individually when times get tough and collectively when there are negotiations needed to get the best result.

Tell your non-union colleagues they will be joining hundreds of our members benefiting from our support. Inform them that membership is not expensive and is adjusted to reflect their income level and there are many added benefits to this too. For example: free wills, discounted deals on insurance, health offers, shopping discounts and much more.

You as the recruiter will also receive a £20 Love to Shop voucher immediately for recruiting and your colleague will receive one too after 3 months membership.

Help grow your branch, together we are stronger. To find out more email m.sawdon@tees.ac.uk.

UN Anti-Racism Day

March 20th, 2021 is United Nations Anti-Racism day. This event will be marked with an online national rally. The growth of the Black Lives Matter movement has shone a fresh spotlight on the horrific levels of racism around the world. We will come together, united against racism, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism and fascism. More information is available on the UNISON national website.
